California Highway Patrol Jobs

Becoming a California Highway Patrol Officer is an honor that only a few ones can achieve. There is a lot of criteria to fulfill when looking for California Highway Patrol jobs, if you’re interested in becoming a California Highway Patrol, here are the requirements that you need to meet in order to get the job.

* Legal status: In order to start the paperwork and get one of those California Highway Patrol jobs, you need to be an American citizen. You can also be a resident alien but, by the time you could become a California Highway Patrol Officer, you need to be already an American citizen. You should also be between the ages of 20 to 35 years old.

* High school diploma or GED: Education is a must if you want to become a representative of the law, there’s no difference if you want to land a California Highway Patrol job. The minimum requirement is the high school diploma, or a GED. If you want to earn a better salary then, you need to have 2 to 4 years accreditation in a college, and receive a AA or BA degree.

* Clean criminal record: You need to have a squeaky clean criminal record with no felony at all. This requirement also includes your driver’s record. If you have traffic citations, and at-fault automobile collisions, chances are you’re not getting the job.

* English and Math are a must: All the reports that you’re going to write are in English, so if English is your second language, you’re probably going to take an English course to learn perfect grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, composition, and spelling. Math is very important too, because you’re going to need it for traffic accident calculations, and other things. Also, you need to have at least basic understanding of computers because you’re going to file all your reports to a computer for later retrieval.

* Perfect health: To get any of the California Highway Patrol jobs you need to be in perfect health. The most important part of your body in this job is the upper body. You should pass some test that include the quality of gripping, and the strength of your upper body. You also need to be a great runner, and complete a 100 yards sprint in 20 seconds or less. However, when you take the running test, you need to complete a 500 yard run in 2 minutes or less.

* 20/20 Vision: It’s imperative to have 20/20 vision in each eye. You have to read from a chart without errors. However, it’s okay to wear contact lenses, or glasses. If for any reason, you have eye problems, the worst uncorrected vision you can have is 20/40. Then, to take any of these California Highway Patrol jobs, you’ll have your vision corrected to 20/20.
